Meeting On May 25 –
held in the 3rd floor game room at Lakestone Terrace. This month’s meeting will begin with a critique session from 5:00 to 6:45 p.m. with a short break for snacks before the program beginning at 7:00 and runs until 9:00 p.m. If you are bringing something to be critiqued, it should be no more than five pages, 12 pt., double-spaced, with 5-6 copies for others to read along with you.
Monday May 25 Writers’ Bloc of Granbury will host author Lloyd Christensen as he presents information from the mystery writer’s conference. Lloyd grew up in the suburbs of Washington, DC in what were then farming communities, now sizable cities by themselves but moved to the Texas Gulf Coast in 1985. Later he moved to the Dallas area, spent a couple of years in Richmond, Virginia, then back to Dallas. Another move for a one-year project to San Mateo, CA, then back to Dallas and so on. he keeps coming back to the Fort Worth/Dallas area. He work in the I/T world.
Lloyd is a member of Writers’ Bloc. His first book, Sunrise Caye, is a murder-mystery (a cozy) based on a fictionalized version of that resort. Lloyd says about Sunrise Caye, “I had in mind the Alistair MacLean books of my youth; the isolated group with little communication with the outside world and a narrator that serves as the main character and investigator.”
Rosemary Freskos submitted a poem to one of the websites on www.wildsound that Connie sent to Writers’ Bloc members.
Peggy Freeman had a great time at Brock Elementary in Burleson in May. The fourth graders enjoyed a day of duclimers from David and Annette Lindsey and then she read from some of her books and taught a few writing tips.
Connie Lewis Leonard has published her interactive devotional book A Psalm a Day, and listed both her books on GoodReads. She hopes to have a book launch on Thursday, June 4.
